I am looking for something rather small, about 2 or 3 AA. It needs to be very bright, bright enough to make someone put their hands over their eyes if you point it at them, and bright enough to light up the darkest room. I have about 40 dollars to spend, including shipping to New York. I am open to all suggestions.

Goto shiningbeam.com and clik on aa flashlight.
Any of them aa will "make someone put their hands over their eyes if you point it at them."

Thank you all for the responses. That romisen light looks pretty promising.

I want it to blind someone until I point it away. The light is going along with a Glock 19, but I don't want it to be mountable.

+1 for the RC-N3 Q5 from Shiningbeam. I've bought about 30-40 of them for my workplace and they have extremely good durability and about 4hr runtime on a set of AA's. I have inspectors that have been using them 8hrs a day for almost a year now.

If I go with the romison, what batteries should I get? Any recs on rechargeables?

the rc-n3 is def a great light. I would also recommend the fenix e20 though which is a little pricier but still in your budget. it is a sturdier light, not that the romisen is bad, but fenix is a well respected brand. I'm also pretty sure the fenix has better anodizing. Also the fenix e20 has a focusable head like a maglight which i find very handy. The rc-n3 has a fairly tight hotspot which can be less pleasant for close up work, and loosening the head on the E20 makes a very nice flood. In favor of the romisen though, it is cheaper and has a glow in the dark tail button which im very fond of. They both have very nice tints. Your call really.

It came today, and all I can say is this thing is bright. I dont know much about flashlights, I always thought there was only maglite, but I have to say, I will be buying a few more of these.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The best option is to get the $10 18650 charger, 2 18650 Trustfire batteries ($10), and the Trustfire 501B R2 ($16). You can't beat this setup for the price. It is scary bright and the 18650 batteries last forever.

Having a bit of a problem. The light was working awesome since I got it, but I flipped it on today and the light is really dim. I tried another set of alkalines, and my eneloops but its the same light. What did I do?

Try a paper clip for the tailcap, if it bright than get a needle nose plyer and tighten the inside of the tailcap.

One last check would be to see if all the contacts are clean so they make good connection. The last resort is to obviously contact Bryan and see if he can replace it or repair it. He'll take care of you.
