I got the requisite Arc AAA and a Streamlight ProPolymer 4AA. They are both outstanding, and just what I was after.

First thoughts on the Arc AAA:
Although I have seen it typed several times, I'm still shocked at how small yet how bright the Arc AAA is. I think I know how the marketing minds at ARC work now. At first, when was a budding young flashaholic, I thought to myself: "$25 for a pocket flashlight? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif But I had seen enough ravings about it here to try one out anyhow, and now I see how it works. It is indeed worth the $25. Furthermore, once you see how a pocket flashlight can be worth that kind of dough, your imagination starts to figure out how an LSx-x can be worth over $100. Is this how young kids get lured into becoming drug addicts?

Blimey this thing is bright! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif It is a lot more comfortable to hold than online pix would suggest. Also, I was expecting a smooth flood, but what I got is even better. It has a noticeable hotspot in the middle with plenty of usable spillover. It is kind of like a tight spot surrounded by a nice flood. Perfect.

Now it is time to go and update my signature to include them, hehehe.

I agree. The Arc AAA is the ideal pocket light (I don't like keychain lights) lightweight, small and bright. And the SL 4AA LED is the ultimate LED flashlight to introduce people to new technology. I've given 4 of these as gifts to people who normally have $0.99 2D flashlights that don't work when they need them. They have all commented on how bright and useful the lights are. I have 2 of them, good task lights for working on things like cars, appliances, etc. No long throw, not super bright, but very useful.
