I received my laser last night and spent almost all night outside in awe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif Arnold and Alvine Beland were a pleasure to do business with. I got a 22.4mw Leadlight that blew me away. My first night with it had about 80% humidity at 70degress or so and I could see the entire beam. I'm talking any angle from parrallel all the way to perpendicular, and the beam was a bright solid green line. I live in a rural area and I guess conditions were very good out here in the northeast, but it was so impressive that I believe it would be incredible almost anywhere.

Those of you looking to make your first green laser purchase, look not further that http://abeland1.com/
Quality, speed, and profesionalism.
Thanks again Arnold. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thanks.gif

Have to agree with you. I just recieved my 10.9mW abeland Leadlight earlier this week - and im very very impressed with it...

Id love to get a 22.4mW though.... mmmmmmm

yeah, all i have is a TRUE 5mW, but i want something in range from 15mW-20mW. Roga Danar, be sure to take pictures and post them in here!

I would take pictures and post them but I won't have time as I am leaving for the Army in a few days.

LOL No I wish I could but I am certain that it would become the expensive toy of an irresponsible person (drill Sergeant) the very first day of Basic. Oh well I can wait to play with it after BCT, AIT and jump school I suppose...

With the humidity at Ft. Benning that would be an awesome sight. But you're right, it would get taken away. It wouldn't even make it as far as the DI.

I am getting itchy for another laser and I just got this one yesterday!! Between flashlights and guns I was already burning holes in my bank account, the last thing I need is a new hobby! I will probably buy another from Arnold during my Christmas leave, I can only hope he has a super-powerful one with my name on it come December! Besides I need to own at least 2 so I wont feel bad should I decide to void the warranty and take a look inside one of these babies.

Those C-Cell 50 and 75mw models look quite intimidating. Anyone know of a website that ships those to the USA?

Re: Glp-III

Taken from Z-Bolt's website: ( No sales to United States pending FDA / CDRH Laser Product Report )
This is written on all three of their C-Cell Class IIIb DPSS laser pages.

Has anyone checked this out? The price for their >15mw seems a bit outrageous. Is it really that much better?

Megalaser just tweaks 5mW leadlights... don't bother.

2Dim, don't bother with Megalaser, in all likelyhood they just take a stock leadlight and turn the pot up. This means you are paying an outrageuos price (really, REALLY outrageous, $349 plus shipping!!) for a leadlight when you can get one for less than $70 in some cases on ebay and just turn up the pot yourself if you so desire.

But what I suggest would be calling or emailing Arnold at Abeland1.com and get a stock leadlight thats a powerfull handpicked and tested unit, completly unmoddified. Megalasers only says that theirs will be more than 15mw for $349 plus shipping while I got my 22.4mw from Abeland1 with overnight UPS shipping for just over $200. I am sure that if you had regular shipping on one of his 17-18mw units you would be in the $160 range.

Re: Glp-III

I did not go any further than the first page. Looks to me that you could take their >30mw green module and connect it to 2 batteries... to get the kind of device you want, if you're handy with that sort of thing. It might be the same module that's used in the Glp-III.

On thir site i saw this: "How long do the batteries last?
Battery life depends on several conditions such as battery type, operating temperature, the amount of time the laser is used constantly and the initial state of the batteries when they were loaded into the unit in the first place. Generally in room temperature and with good alkaline batteries you should have maybe an hour of high powered use followed by several more hours of less than full power use. Generally battery life is good with both of our units but we did choose performance over battery consumption, so it is always wise to keep a spare set of batteries and to store the laser for long period without batteries loaded."

The pat about "we did choose performance over battery consumption" seems to indicate to me that they pushed up the pot to the max so it has less battery time - am I right?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to recent and well publicised activities by some individuals involving the use of green lasers in the US we have decided to suspend sales of our products. We wish to add that none of the actions of any of these individuals involved any of our products or have been determined to be for any terrorist or related activities, nor has it been determined that the use of small battery powered green lasers has resulted in any harm or injury and that we have never offered any laser with the capability to track or cause damage to a moving aircraft and that many other products would be far more dangerous and suitable for this kind of activity.

We are proud supporters of the war on terror and have a policy of communicating any potential dangerous or illegal activities Involving our products to relevent law enforcement organisations and will continue to do so. It should be noted that identical products that we have previously offered continue to be sold on many hundreds of other websites including Amazon, eBay and Yahoo and that many thousands of laser products are sold every day which have the capability to be modified to be far more dangerous than our products which have all been tested for safety and sold to known customers of which we keep records.

We have always strived to offer professional tools which have been tested for safety and have taken pride in supplying many in the medical, educational, law enforcement and audio visual industries with reliable components and customer service, full warranty and technical support which we will continue to offer customers who have previously purchased our products.

Megalaser is based outside of the US, has always made customers aware of the safe use of lasers and refused to sell to minors or any individual acting in a suspicious manner. Our products are legal for sale as electronic components and sold as such. This type of product does not require any license but must be used safely and responsibly and we cannot be responsible for the activities of individuals, it is in this regard that we are taking the lead in suspending sales.

I'm very happy with the model I received from AtlasNova, and look forward to our first Astronomy Club meeting this month. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif We're building a new dome and I hope to convince the commitee to use glow-paint so we can "draw" on the dome! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you Arnold and his wife!

What are the full rules for laser products/sale in the u.k?
Can anyone point me to a site?

I have one on the way from Abe around 24mw. Can't wait.
