Can anyone recommend best 10mm LED available in the market now. Those that can be also used on 10mm LED keychain. Is it available in eBay? Prefer pure white LED.

Thanks in advance!

The demand for 3mm and 10mm leds is just not the same as the 5mm standard so you'll find most innovation there. That being said I got one 10mm from DX in the form of their 10mm coincell light and I'm pleased at the brightness and focused beam. It's as bright as the single die 22,000 MCD 5mm leds and clearly uses multiple dies so it's lifespan will be much longer. The beam is much smoother and less blue (green tint) which i find more useful. I can recomend that you pick up a set of ten to try out for $2.49 shipped and see if you like them.

Does anyone know what is the brightness of this 10mm from DX in term of mcd?

Check with DX, this LED size is actually 10.5mm, was told by DX that it will not fit in the normal 10mm LED keychain casing.

Anyone else has any recommendation, looking for 10mm LED pure white to mod my 10mm LED keychain?

The 10.5mm is just the width of the lip at the base, this is normal - same thing with 5mm LEDs, they're actually about 5.5mm at the base. If you really need it .5mm narrower then you can just grind down some of the base. The 10mm LED I have is actually about 9mm except for the base.

As stated in my post:

And yes it uses a multi-die as there are four bond wires visible in the beam meaning two dies.

I cant compare them to any other 10mm, other than the 10mm "photon type" keyring from Kai, but i got some rated at 140,000 MCD at HKJELED off ebay. http://stores.ebay.com.au/HKJE-Led-...e-LED_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ13QQftidZ1QQtZkm
They are alot brighter than the stock LED but that may be due to being very "spotty" rather than "floody"- they are rated at viewing angle of 13' which is quite tight.

In the end even though they are brighter, i found the tight spot not what I was looking for and went back to the stock LED. The tint was less blue on the JELED but neither were too distracting.

Robert

PS I notice JELED has a 255k MCD, no idea of the beam characteristics, although that rating is at 100mA and most LED's are ratings are at 20mA.
