Hi Guys,

I have been lurking around on this site for a little less than a year now, and all I can say is that... yes this hobby is adictive!

Anyway, I have modified several of my mini-mag lights with Iretech and dat2zip's sandwiches and have been absolutely blown away, especially my MADMAX and BADBOY mods /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif . So much so, that I am now eyeing up my 6D mag light and 2D mag light./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

What recommendations do you guys suggest for tricking these lights out to get some more output? I'm preferential to LEDs, but I realize that upgrading to high power LEDs could be very expensive. Inretech's adapters were upwards of $180 dollars if I remember correctly. I realize a better incandecent output would be alot cheaper. So if you could give me some options for just totally cranking some lumens out of these lights with no regard to $$$, and then possibly the cheapest upgrades possible.

Anybody have 5Wer drop-ins on the drawing boards??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks for the help!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

I don't know about 5W drop-ins but Elektrolumens has a 5W kit and all the parts to do it yourself. Instructions too. And his V3U bin LS make a nice amount of light. Can't be beat for $30.

Good luck!

Re: Recommendations Requested for Mag Flashlight M

For a cheap mod for your 2D cell Maglite, buy a 3-123 Lithium cell to 2-D cell adapter from Elektrolumens for $6, then put a 5-cell or 6-cell Mag bulb in your 2-D Maglite, and you'll have a light as bright (or brighter) than your standard 6-cell Mag in a much smaller size. I just did this and it works great. Total cost is $10-12, and with the 5-cell bulb it is brighter than my 6-cell Mag.

There are better and brighter mods out there, but I think this is a good budget mod.

Re: Recommendations Requested for Mag Flashlight M

I would recomend an EverLED. Extremely easy to do and relatively cheap. Quite a nice light output...not the best you can get from an LED, but pretty darn good.

if you can do it...mod your own

everleds are only really suitable for lights where you can't readily mod them...

Re: Recommendations Requested for Mag Flashlight M

If you're not adverse to incandescent mods, there are a number of threads about modding the Mag. -- lots of bang for the buck, and some of them fairly easy. For example, Mag 2C and 4C High Output Mods.
