Recycling old Christmas Lights

While looking for some "loads" to test a pocket inverter my Uncle got, I came across a bunch of bad Christmas light strings in my garage; mostly with dry rotted insulation on the cords and one string with frayed wires. I have two sets of 100 about 20 feet long each and one "icicle" string.

Does anyone know of scrap metal or recycling places in Pomona or City of Industry that would probably take these ? I assume they'll be counted as wire.

Wonder how much scrap copper it's worth ?

Umm I've seen Christmas light bulbs used as navigation lights (red and green) used on the wingtips of model airplanes for night flying.. LOL

Just re-use them this year until they all die out.
When they do, toss em out.
Or re-use the individual still working bulbs as spares in the next identical sets.

Even better, switch over to led sets and that will be the end of it.
All my led light sets still work.
