The 635nm pointers are rather cool, they have a more orangy look than the old 650nm. Very nice...

I'm sorry but I've got to ask, has anyone er...modified these - well to cut it short - is there a pot under the button? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

You can get them from Abeland - www.abeland1.com

I modified a red I got from abeland to almost double it's brightness. There is a pot on the reds also, but you have to take it apart to get to it. My laser has since died, I accidentally dropped it on to some pavement one day and killed it. RIP my red laser. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif

wow, ordering in progress... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm warning you though that the front cap is glued in and doesn't like being pried off, you will have to glue or epoxy it back on after you mod it.

To the best of my knowledge, most red laser pointers in pen-style cases aren't very viable candidates for modification.
The only way to modify one of these is to increase the current consumption of the laser diode, and they're rather easy to kill.

The difference between lasing threshold and death in visible-emitting laser diodes is sometimes quite a small range.
