I had a red/orange in a DD CR2 in the cave at the Sequoia get-to-gether that was "fun." Doug was nice enough to get me a couple from the same source and they pull 260-270mA DD on a 123. They are PDB (pretty damn bright) underdriven, and bat life goes way out there! (Doug- keep an eye on your mailbox /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

When I first got red and r/o luxeons, I had difficulty telling them apart. Now I can tell them apart immediately.

I think this is one of the reasons CPF is so addictive. You get more sensitive about things. Lights you once loved now become unsatisfactory to you, because you start noticing flaws in color, smoothness, beam pattern, etc.

Well, at least it's not as expensive as being an audiophile. Or is it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At least we realize that generic batteries are just as good as the high-end name brand.

Also, we don't worry about using monster cable to power Luxeons /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So I would definitely say we aren't as bad (in some respects) as audiophiles

Ah, but being an audiophile, if you know what your doing you can build a system that sounds just as good as the high end stuff. Granted, you have to plan it out and match components and sometimes tweak things, rather than take it out and plug it in from the box... but you save money! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
