Howdy folks!
Here for your amusement is another mod that in practicality might not make much sense.
It is a lantern with a radio shack 3000 mah rechargable RC car battery in an Eveready Lantern with an M3 bezel. When you add up the cost of this thing it might be better to get an UltraStinger.
But, thanks to BrightNorm and other members here, I replaced the head on my M3 with a turbohead and it's gonna stay on there permanently, as the beam is much better.
So, I had an extra M3 bezel and 3 extra lamps going to waste...
Except for how big it is, it is a pretty good light. It has a great beam with good brightness. It lasts at least one full hour. I didn't run it down since the NiMH pack is damaged by going less than 6v.
Here is a link to the beam shots:
M3 Lantern
The M3 is a 9v lamp and the rechargable pack is 7.2v, but I think due to the bigger capacity and lower resistance of the NiMH, the wattage is actually higher.
On the M3T with fresh batteries, it goes at 6.6 volts at 2.3 amps which is 15 watts.
On the "M3R" it goes 6.8 volts at 2.7 amps which is 18 watts. It looks brighter than the lithium battery lights.
I think however, the lightbulb may burn out faster. I'll keep running it and give an update. The bezel gets really hot. Like plastic melting hot...
