LEDs got my flashlight obsession started, but regulated/electronically controlled lights are now fueling it. I love my ARC AAAs (I own three) and right now my favorite light is my E2e Outdoorsman/KL1.

I got a Tech. ***. Eternalight Ergo 3 last night. It's a cool little liight, but I don't know if I'll keep it. Frankly I'd prefer it if it had only the timer and dimmer modes--push one button once to turn it on in timer mode and then press the same button more to dim the light. The other modes just seem gimmicky to me.

I think my next light will be an Opalec. It seems like it would be perfect anytime I wanted more burn time than the E2e/KL1 and could live with less brightness (which would be a lot of times). I think a single CR123/Opalec Newbeam light would be a really cool EDC light . . .

I made a single 123/Opalec light for Darell. Here is the link for one view, and here is another view of the light.

Email me privately if you would like to discuss details.

Do you have a picture of that 123 light next to an E1? I can't quite figure out how big it is. I sure would like one if you could make it shorter than a CMG Ultra and just a bit fatter.

Thanks Doug. I aw your Opalec/123 and think I sent you mail before you posted your reply. I think I'm going to get an E1e, bore out the head and modify the lamp assembly like McGizmo.

It was about 3 5/8" long (judging from the photo, compared to the Inova X5T). If you don't need the tapped 1/4-20 hole in the bottom, or a lens over the top end, I can make it closer to 3 1/8" long. If you need the lens, it would end up about 3 1/4" long. That's about the size of the Infinity (including the lanyard loop). The diameter is a bit under 7/8" (the size of the Inova X5T).

If this appeals to you, please email me to work out details.
