removing type III HA?

I have a VME e-series 1 cell extender. the problem I am having is that the male threads, that the head screws onto, is coated in TypeIII HA. I need to remove the HA on just the threads, I dont want to strip the whole tube.

Im trying to extend my Firstlight Tomahawk and it works but the HA coated threads is preventing the tailcap form completing the circuit.
