This 17670 rolled off my desk and hit the floor. The black plastic wrapping split, but the internals seem undamaged.

This is the cell when I don't move anything

What do you think? If I am able to secure the plastic back, will it still be a viable cell, or is it too damaged to use? Thanks.

Looks OK to me. Only thing that looks damaged is the wrapper. The terminal and case don't look dented to me. But go with your gut, if you don't trust it get another one.

I've had small splits like that occur just from the expansion and contraction as the cells heats and cools during charging and use. I usually just add some electrical or kapton tape to protect against accidental contact.
