Hello CPF!

I recently purchased a TK75 and discovered that there are fog issues under the lens. I guess I should have done some more homework :(

Since this seems to be very common with other TK75 owners out there I am going to be looking for a new light within the same price range. I took a good look around (TN, nitecore, olight, sunwayman etc...) and I could not find anything, but there is a very good chance that I missed a few that are ideal for me.

Things that are important to me:
A wide flood range
600M+ Throw
2500+ Lumens
18650 Battery powered

so your going to have a long wait then as the X40vn in all bathces has sold out, and as vinhy states for most people the TN31 will be more than adequate if you check is review and stats out for the modded one....

were both in for a long wait for a X40VN as I went to order one last week and this week and his last two available were sold out. Only way we can now get one is to watch for a second hand one come available, or possibly hope he does another batch. Not unknown for him, but he doesnt plan it as yet :(

probably right about the lumens, as I cant seem to find the review about the lumens being higher and I note that it is possibly around1750 or there abouts however, when I contacted Vinhy direct he said the TN31 was the better thrower, and he knows more than me...

also saw another buyer post this too.....................................

Guys,

I can tell you through experience after buying one of these from Vinh that you are in for a real treat. No led light for the same amount of money right now at this current time will beat this TN31VN for throw or lux. The only other light that is cheaper that will come close is the K40VN. I have one of them as well. But the TN31VN is the better thrower.......

may be that will help you just take a second look... either way your decision.. I have others on order but the one I am looking forward to the most is the one modded by vinhy​


 
the way i was going to order a tk75 until I saw the fog issue, seems a relatively easy work around but to me it just seems too over priced for what I need, I work 18 hr shifts on nights as a dog handler on large sites and i need 600m throw at least on some of them, but I also need turbo for at least 15 to 20min, and a expected battery time of around 4-6hrs... I dont mind swapping batteries once on a shift but more would be a total pain :(

the tk75 would be good for my needs but with 2/3 extender packs it would be a little too over budget for me :(

Bullseye !!!
The de-domed Vinh X40vn actually out throws a stock TK75.
But if you get a de-domed Vinh TK75vn, that's another story.
The X40vn has a slightly narrower spill than the TK75. But not by much.
The X40 comes with all kinds of USB charging goodies. Very convenient.
 
Do you need the throw of the TK75? If not the Eagletac SX25L3 with MTG2 has 2300 lumens OTF and I think 25-30k lux.
Uses three 18650's and no battery carrier so battery swaps are easier ;)
 
I don't suggest using a modded light for work, Vinh makes awesome lights but the higher output is going to shorten your runtime by a fair bit. The math is in the numbers 3 amps out of a 3400mah battery is over an hour of runtime, 5 amps out or a 3400mah battery equals less than an hour ;)

The TK75 is both high output and a thrower. There aren't a lot of good lights in that class. You could how ever get a powerhouse flood light and a thrower and still be inter the $180 price tag ;)

I really do like this light and I believe you recommended it to me a few months back. I have it on my list for Christmas simply because of its size/power - and it is only ~$140! So I will just need something for the interim. The throw is not an absolute necessity, but it is a big preference of mine.

Until I become more familiar with flashlights I would like to avoid the modded ones (for now).

What were you thinking of for the $180?
 
$180 is what I paid for my tk75 I'm sure they can be found cheaper now but I bought when they first came out.

To last you till Christmas get a $20 DefiantSuperThrower from HomeDepot. Should tied you over for a few months ;)

I really want to keep my TK75, but I am a bit annoyed at the fogging issue and how common it is.

Haha if I bought that I don't even think the dog would walk with me.

There was not enough detailed information on how to do this for me. I have some silica gel, but after cooking it the gel did not turn blue (as the internet says it should). So I pretty much threw my hands up. This should be on the manufacturer to fix anyhow.

I was under the impression that you need to let the silica gel sit for 3 days. If I am without the TK75 for 3 full days every two weeks that is highly unacceptable.

just place in oven at 100C for an hour or so. then place in batt tube without batt carrier overnight.
 
do it initially and repaet when necessary. keep in wrapping
