Has anyone dared to go this far into their Leadlight? I was just checking out a site that sells crystals and there is an alternative to Nd:YVO4(@1064)that apparently spits out 3 times as much power. It is Nd:KGWO4 and generates 1067.2nm output.

The coatings might have to be different but it would mean a much more efficient laser (and 3x more powerful if you desire).

Take a look:

Yeah, I've looked at that option before as well... it would be VERY nice however here's my issue: How would you get those in there? The standard leadlights have the round crystals in a sort of holder inside the chasis. This is the proverbial square crystal into a round hole problem, and I have no idea how you'd mod it to not only hold the new crystal but have it aligned properly and still be effecient as it is.

Any other takers?
