The body and the materials

The Nitecore EDC33 represents a notable step forward in flashlight technology, implementing the new LUMIN SHIELD™ technology. Equipped with the powerful NiteLab UHi 20 Max with "9-Core", this flashlight offers a combined beam for versatile use: there is a main LED for a concentrated beam and 8 auxiliary LEDs for a wide and bright diffused light.

Powered by a built-in 4000mAh 18650 battery, the flashlight offers multiple output modes including a comfortable Ultra-Low (5 lumens / 2 days 15 hours), a High level (1200 lumens / 2 hours 31 min), and the search (1700 lumens) equivalent to Momentary Turbo (Spot).
The flashlight is designed to be water resistant (IP68, 2m) and shock resistant (2m drop resistance). The user interface is managed entirely by the single electronic switch and there is a "Rapid Lock™" physical block to prevent unwanted activations.

Note: When the flashlight is turned off and fully UNLOCKED, a half press will show the battery charge indicator for about 5 seconds.

Obstacle detection sensor:
Next to the LEDs there is an integrated optical sensor. When an "obstruction" is detected, the mode output will temporarily drop from HIGH level to MID level, and once the "obstruction" is removed, the light will return to the original output.
Note: This function can be turned off by pressing 1/2 press when the mode output automatically drops to MID level and the flashlight will return to HIGH level.
When the flashlight is set to HIGH and the optical sensor detects an obstacle, the brightness will automatically decrease to 300 lumens to avoid overheating.
Notes: Recharge the battery when the light appears dim or the flashlight becomes unresponsive due to low charge. Keep the lens clean to ensure proper sensor function.

Beam, tint and beamshot

The relatively deep Orange Peel reflector combined with the UHi 20 LED placed in the center of the dish generate a beam of which a spill, a crown and a hotspot are clearly visible.

o5CVzP4yYyx9-W35iu36=w1000-h563-s-no-gm?authuser=0.jpg

The beam is oriented more towards "throw", ideal for recognizing objects at medium distances.
8 auxiliary LEDs provide a large area of flood-oriented light (Lumin ShieldTM mode)

xfdjtZmi2KqpYLmCjS2R=w1000-h563-s-no-gm?authuser=0.jpg

The beam profile shows an almost perfectly circular hotspot with a slight corona and a wide spill. Some beam artifacts are present when viewing on a white wall.
The hotspot is cold white in color with slight toning, imperceptible during normal use, on yellow-greenish hues.

Below are some shots in the dark.
