How about Kexlight? We could keep it going for new manufacturers right through Sexlight.
and
...it's just a flashlight
.
Such blasphemy.

On a 14500, the driver is likely bypassed and it is running in DD, so the internal resistance of the pass elements of the driver are able to limit the current to ~830mA (per Netkidz).

On a NiMH, input voltage is 1.2V (assuming no voltage droop, which is unrealistic). At 2.3A and 1.2V, that's 2.76W. Most boost converters are not very efficient at such a high input voltage to output differential (assume Vo needs to be about 3.5V, Vin is only 1.2V), so assume 70% efficiency (if even that). 2.76W x .7 = 1.93W. 1.93W at 3.5V is only 550mA, so the LED is seeing about 550mA. Sounds right to me.

I'm disappointed on the SOS mode not being SOS. Kind of wondering if I should cancel my order. It still shows "collecting from suppliers"...I'm 47xx though...pretty late order number I believe.

I like the look of the Dexlight, but WAAAAY too many modes for a flashlight. I wonder if a Hexlight will come out with AI that will sense your environment and adjust output accordingly and will interface via bluetooth to other equipment and has a built in 5GB flash drive and....blah blah...it's just a flashlight.

This is the info I was looking for. THANKS

DON

I finally got around to checking the current draw on my Rex 2.0 (2007050241)

Meter - Fluke 73

NiMH ROV Hybrid 2100 mAH - 5 minutes off of the C9000 (1.433v after test)

(L) .06 A (M) .21 A (H) 1.21 A

This seems quite different from what NetKidz found. I'm wondering if they changed the driver on the later batches (my order was in the 4600's)?

For the sake of comparison here are couple Fenix I tested at the same time:

Fenix L1D CE ROV Hybrid 2100 mAH (1.436v after test)

(L) .14 A (M) .45 A (H) 1.41 A

Fenix L1P ROV Hybrid 2100 mAH (1.443v after test)

(ON) 1.08 A

well guys here is some data from me:

here is the draw from my Rexlight (listed at Low, Medium, High)

Alkaline primaries: 0.08 – 0.29 – 1.13
Lithium 3.0 pulled from a CRV3: 0.03 – 0.11 – 0.4 Amps

Did you notice that going form one type of battery to another changes current draw by a factor of 2.8?

Also a Question… Using the lithium 3.0V batts (measured at 3.06V without load), I did not notice any significant change in Brightness. Is there a chance that flashlight circuit sees the 3.0 volts at the low side of a Li-Ion rechargeable 3.6 voltage?

As an aside, watts drown from the battery are lower when using the 3.0V option. Does not that mean a lower working temp?

Thanks, Kostas

My REX 2,0 on alkaline Energizer fresh batery (1,6v)

low - tail 0,065A, Voltage on emiter ~2,1V
med- tail 0,25A, Voltage on emiter ~2,5V
high- tail 1,2A, Voltage on emiter ~3,2V

same batery but used few days ~1,4V

low- tail 0,07A V on emiter ~ 2,1V
med- tail 0,28A V on emiter ~ 2,5V
high- tail 1,4A V on emiter ~3,2V

i think current on emiter is ~ 0,38A(high level) with alkaline and ni-mh, li-ion gives litlle over 0,4A to the led.
maybe this driver is step - up - down combination set to ~ 0,4A ?

I get 1.4A on a fresh Energizer (and other NiMHs) AA. Mine are from the later HA nat batch.
That should give more than 1 hour on high unless the converter doesn't work well at lower voltages.

If it had a long tail it would be fine, but it seems to drop out pretty quickly.

I still think mine were a good deal at $30...

Yes, i can see. And dont know whot is going on :mecry:

That link has (1st photo) flashlights standing on end, (2nd) beamshots, (3rd) beamshots (4-8) are graphs. Can you see any of those?

Oh yes, and what computer operating system and browser?

Windows XP, internet explorer or Mozilla firefox,

Huh. Well, I run Linux, but have a boot partition with WinXP; booted there and tried both browsers, and it still works for me just fine.

I have no idea, except that your provider may be blocking where the images are hosted.

Can you see the photos and not the graphs or nothing at all?

I can't see photos and graphs, only text. I give that link to my frinds and some of them can't see too but few see everything.
