Hi,

I orderer some Rexlight to Kay some months ago... and still did not get them!
By the time, I understood that those lights behave better with 14500 than with simple nimh AA. I think this is due to the board which is more efficient with higher voltage. So I was wondering wheter it would be possible to swap the original board for a more efficient one. As far as I am concerned, i really need only one mode: high, so that I would be fully happy with something like a Badboy with 400mA or 500mA.

Are there some of you who already succeeded in changing the board of those lights? Thanks in advnce for sharing your experience.

There are plenty of other lights that are already single mode and will take a 14500, why go to all the trouble to mod a Rexlight?

My problem is rather that I have some rexlight to use (or to sell, but dunno it will be easy) and I would prefer to use Nimh or alk rather than 14500 :)

Sell the Rexlights on BST and buy the light that really suits your needs.
Or do what a real Flashaholic would do keep the Rexlights and buy something else to add to you collection :)

You might also consider buying two 14500s and trying them. I like them in the Rexlight and also like the fact that with occasional use they seem to keep their charge forever.

Also you are worrying about the battery problem, but some of us don't have that as an issue. Alkalines work fine and retain the memory settings on my light.

Well thanks to all of you guys. You did not really answer my question but never mind: I will wait for my 4 rex lights to arrive (should not be long now!) and i will try to get inside some of them, try to sell/offer others to friends and finaly I can also use one with 14500 or even NimH (with poor runtime :) )

Yes, that what I was thinking of, but I did not find any board driving a Cree from only one nimH AA... all the boards from the shoppe seem to have a minimum of 1.6-1.8V
