Riddle me this...epoxy uses

what advantages are there to epoxying over the leds in say, the Opalec mod or ARC?
Isn't there a reduction in light transmission?
Isn't there a risk of air bubbles forming in the epoxy as it sets?
Doesn't it scratch easily without the ability to polish it?
What is your epoxy of choice for this mod?

Hmm, disadvantages would be that epoxy yellows with age, and will confine heat in the assembly.

What were your thoughts behind epoxying over the LEDs?
