Hello fellow CPFer's. Just thought I'd share a noob experience. I am relatively new to this hobby and today I made a noob mistake. I left the house without my EDC!:sigh:
Luckily I have my trusty 6P at work....:twothumbs

It just goes to show, I have a lot to learn from the rest of you who are veterans at this hobby. First order of business: Buy more lights!!!

How about a small AAA light or something to keep on your keychain? That would give you a back up in case you forgot to put one on your pocket.

The Arc AAA, Fenix EO1, and Fenix LOD are all small and reliable lights with a small form factor.

Before I realized I am a flashaholic, I used to keep a AAA-sized light on my key-chain. But the problem is, I have too many keys.... But I will keep that in mind as it would be nice to keep in my lunch bag.

I definitely need to buy more lights. Right now all I have are my EDC (single AA) and my 6P. I usually have the EDC in my pocket when I'm out and the 6P stays at office.

+1

When I forget my E1B it is always assuring to have my ARC on my keys.

Also, buy more!! you can never have enuf torches!!! :)

Which AAA light do you have on your keychain?

I had a AAA mag solitaire. Not a great light since there are better ones out there like Arc. I'm just the kind of person who prefers to not have too many things on my keychain...just a personal preference I suppose. However, I do see the upside of keeping a light on a keychain since that would prevent rookie mistakes like mine...haha.

Thank's for everybody's input on the types of small lights to consider.

Let the shopping begin!

I keep a work light on a holster attached to my pants. I keep three near my wallet to remember to grab when leaving the house. I keep one in the glove compartment as a spare. I leave one in the closet while I am getting ready as not to wake my honey and baby. I keep one on the tv next to my side of the bed. I keep three in the crap drawer of the kitchen for blackouts. I keep three LED candles in the closet for blackouts (Sharper Image). I make my honey keep one in her purse. She also has one in the car. We ALL have keychain lights (Photons, freebies). I have one on my desk, and several spares in the drawer.

You can never have enough lights.

You've got a LED drop-in in that 6P?

If not(and you would like to have one), check this thread.

Maglite upgrade/mods if you have other Maglites.

Oh yes, I've got a bugoutgear super premium drop-in, and I love it. Also have some AW RCR123's. I find this 6P set-up a great addition to my work as a health inspector. When I first bought the 6P I used the P60 bulb that came with it and gave myself a the wow factor. But after getting the super premium drop-in that wow factor shot through the roof.

Lately, I've been contemplating getting another 6P and mate it with a malkoff drop-in.

The Malkoff drop ins are excellent. I have the M60 with my 6P and I love it. It's actually the furthest throwing light I have in my arsenal.

I realised I had a problem when I got to work and realised I ONLY had my EDC and so felt naked... oh and the button cell light on my keys and a cheap MXDL light at work, but the last two don't count.

I EDC my 6P in the winter when I have a large coat on and an extra pocket for it. IMHO its small and light enough for that. Just make sure to lock out the tailcap a few turns.

I EDC at least 3 lights on me at work and 1 on my duty belt plust what's in my patrol bag. My motto's the Boy Scout's motto "Be prepared". 1 is none and 2 is one.

Koztik....right there is your mistake. It is not just a hobby, it is a way of life! Or a sickness...

Yes, you're right it is a way of life. I've been married for just under one year and I realized my love of lights about 2 months after the wedding. When I told my wife at that time she seemed quite surprised that such a thing could be possible. Jokingly, she even said she wished she knew before she walked down the aisle. My response was: "Honey, that's too bad. It's too late now.".........she still loves me though :twothumbs.
