Run-Time Plot - LED Ear-Lite

This runtime plot is for a LED Ear-Lite that uses a single LED and two CF 2016 Li 3V waffer batteries. At the end of four hours it was still creating enough light to read by.

Equipment used is a Extech Mdl 401021 Light Adapter into a Radio Shack 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using Scopeview software (v 1.08).

The vertical axis is in mVDC and is equivalent to one footcandle per mVDC. The horizontal axis is 15 minutes per division.

Be aware that your actual battery milage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot.

...so what's a LED Ear-Lite? Here's one stuck to the side of my head.

It stays mounted with no indication of wanting to fall off and is comfortable to ware.

Here is a beam shot....notice that there is NO side spill. The light is focused by a lens. The light was 12 inches from the target.

This light is probably best suited for use as a reading light.

Does it interfere with your hearing when you're using it?
It looks like it might block off your ear canal; that's why I ask.

It does block hearing to some degree, but not that badly.

Actually, this is a device that an angler could use when fishing a stream for tying knots and such close-up tasks. You can't hear much when the water is gurgling and babbling anyway. It may be just the ticket for when the mother-in-law drops by. Cool light. Nice test, as usual.

Does the clip allow it to pivot so you can wear it on the left ear? Or is it only for right-eared people?

Looks like a handy little light for certain tasks. I ask the question because there are a lot of things like headsets and whatnot that only work on one side of the head (usually the right).

The sound attunation is about like wearing ear-muffs in the winter. It does not fit tightly against the ear.

There is NO light side-spill so you don't notice it.

Too bad the device only fits on one side of the ear--if the clip could pivot 180 degrees, then it would fit on the other side (though be upside down). My Bluetooth headset can be placed on either ear, so when one ear gets sore, I can easily switch the device to the other ear /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
