Hey guys, I've got a line voltage track lighting setup in my room. I would, however, like to use the 4700K Solux daytime bulbs (only available in MR16) to color proof in my room.

Is anyone aware of an adapter fixture that will run of line voltage but provide 12volts to the socket? It does not have to be an MR16 base, medium screw socket is fine as well.

Thanks for your help,
Alex

Never could figure out why Solux bulbs only comes in 12volt. The only thing proprietary about them, at least in my knowledge base, is the reflector, so I don't see why they just don't use standard 120volt halogen bulbs. Down converting to 12volt just reduces efficiency even further, and unless you're running an open rail I don't see the safety advantage.

Anyways, I believe you are simply referring to fixtures like these that allow you to run 12volt bulbs of a line voltage track:

This is actually the increasingly common method of running 12volt halogen, and I recently saw transformer-integrated track fixtures on sale at Home Depot or something for about $10. We then argue if it's better to have a cheap transformer on every single bulb, or run the entire track off a high powered cheap transformer. A really good 12 volt transformer capable of running the entire track usually costs more, although sometimes you can play with the voltage and hence tweak the color temp a bit.

Unless you're set on teh Solux, you could install a 120V MR16 lamp. No?

EDIT..............OK I just noticed the date....sorry.
