I have been looking at the runtime plots in the Reviews section but have not been able to find the answers I am looking for. I think that this is information that all newbies would like to know prior to using Pila's.

What are the runtimes for:
1. Surefire 9p with 2 Pila 150s and a P90 bulb?
2. Surefire 9P with 2 Pila 150s and a P91 bulb? (20 min?)
3. Surefire L4 with 1 Pila 168s? (50 min?). Will it run
in regulation the whole time?
4. Surefire KL1 head with 1 Pila 168s? And are there
runtime differences with the old KL1 vs the new KL1?

Not to hijack the thread, but if I might be able to add a slight question to this thread.

Might anyone know the run time and output of the Surefire L4, not only on full power, but as far as what the run time and output might be with a 22 ohm McGizmo two stage tailcap?

Thanks,
John

Yes about 50 min. in full regulation with a Pila 168s. Some gets as much as 60 min. but that would require the luck of having a low Vf Luxeon in the KL4 head. After the full reg. runtime, the L4 flickers for a moment, and goes into a somewhat useable low light mode, that could be used to navigate out of the woods.

Not sure about the older generations of KL1, but the new (gen. 4) runs about 2 hours in full regulation on a Pila 168s. There is no warning before the protection circuit in the Pila shuts down, with sudden total darkness as a result.

I have one of the "old" style KL1s purchased the same week the "new" ones became available. Just timed it with a 168s last week and it ran 2 hours and 19 minutes in full regulation - then winked out.
