Hi all
Haven't been on in a while sorry, busy with work and friends. I finally got the 55mw viper can't wait till it comes :p. I am definately getting glasses for it, and I don't wanna spend more than 15 bucks :p. Is it true that tinted red glasses will really do the trick?
Thanks,
Stephen.

I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way with my first post in the laser forum, but...

you start the pinned topic in this forum, have your sigline, and protecting your precious sight is worth less than a large pizza???

UNBEFREAKINLEAVABLE!!!

Someone asked how much he should spend on a helmet when I took the motorcycle education course, and the instructor's reply was "What's your head worth?"

I can certainly understand working under a budget, but come on!

Youth truly is wasted on the young :(

bryguy, thats what i thought as well.. as well as "in his case i would register a new cpf account".

to the topic:
theoretically/technically yes, it is possible to find normal glasses which would filter. but are you sure what exactly is emitted from your laser? are you sure how much % will be filtered? and that it will be the same all over the glass?

some time ago, i was glad to read only rarely about incidents with laser(-pointers). now i found the "right" forums as well, where they mention accidents in a sidenote. i wonder how much of damage it takes for them to understand it, finally?
how about you, stephen?

manuel

by the way, i use cheap plastic shades as protective glasses. for a uv-led flashlight, for better contrast. only.

So I just got a green laser last night, where can I pick up some good protective glasses.

(Disclaimer: I have never operated a green laser or goggles, I have just been doing much research before I buy one)

Optotronics - $53 shipped (to find the goggles, you have to click on a laser first, and then in its list of accessories, it will list goggles for $46)
WickedLasers - $59 shipped (it might be less b/c they only say, "$19 shipping for lasers", they don't say how much shipping is for accessories)
NovaLasers - $60 shipped
TechLasers - $65 shipped

Of course, if you order a new laser from any company and then add on a pair of goggles, you will save much money on shipping. E.g. at TechLasers, you laser would cost $25 to ship, but each additional item is only $5 more shipping (making the goggles cost only $45 shipped). But, if you already own a laser, I would get the goggles from Optotronics. There are a few ebay listings for green laser goggles, but you only save $10 or less, and I just do not feel comfortable buying eye protection from ebay.
