Scary Footage

Sorry guys I didn't realize that it would only work in NZ.

Had another look & found this:

Most programmes require you to be viewing from within NZ
Computer timezone must be set to '(GMT+12:00) Auckland, Wellington'

I am trying to see if I can download it & post it somewhere.

I have a copy of the episode (in 3 parts) but it is close to 180mb in size (compressed).

Does any one know where I can host it without much hassle?

I am sad now.
That show sounds awesome(The whole series).
I really wish I could watch it.

As I am speaking I am in the process of uploading it to youtube.

One done I will post the links here as the 3 parts will be unlisted & will only be able to be viewed through those links.

Wow, I am totally shocked!

LiPo battery, they say. I had no idea that a battery could self destroy even when not on charge.

I have to say, a bit daft to put dangerous-if-damaged batteries in a R/C vehicle of any kind - the one thing I remember of my days using these things is that you crash them several times a session - not intentionally but it happens. So what hairbrained logic makes them ideal for this type of use? (In my day we had nickel cadmiums?)

Also, that battery was not in a sealed aluminium or steel enclosure, like a flashlight body for instance. Just imagine that going off - pipe bomb or grenade spring to mind.

OK - sobering post. Just which battery chemistry is not likely to explode if misused??? ( Feeling unerved by the amount of Lithium I have on me ATM!)

Thanks for posting this.

The safety moral of this story is don't mistreat your batteries and be aware of the harm that dents and sudden impacts can have on them.

Hello Dr Jekell,

This really enforces the idea that you should never charge unattended and the charging area should be free of combustible material.

Tom

Thanks for uploading it.
That fire extinguisher didn't put out the fire in the 3rd vid.

Thanks Dr Jekell for posting the videos. Very interesting, in particular the real time security camera footage. I primarily work with victims evacuated from residences due to fire and other disasters and rarely is there CCTV footage of the origins of a fire so this was a unique opportunity to witness the inception.

no it didn't, it was co2 extinguisher, wrong type.
you need type D extinguisher, they are suitable for use on metal fires, they are yellow color.

or as we like to call it a bucket of sand. lithium will strip the oxygen out of a co2 extinguisher

if you think LiPo batterys are bad you should see what happens when a 110 amp hour marine lead acid gose fruit cake. it blew a hole in the boat and £80000 of damage.
