Already mentioned in an earlier LED posting - this tape worked well on my old ProPoly 4AA & 3C incandescent lights. A single layer of 3/4" wide tape over the lens helped to smooth the awful voids and artifacts in the ProPolys. There's still a, now fainter, ring at the outer edge of the beam but it's much less noticeable. The beam center was improved to a worthwhile degree. Due to a smoother beam, the brightness actually seemed to increase, when, in fact, a tiny decrease was measured with a meter.

This cheap and easy fix may rival more expensive methods of smoothing out wretched beams.
 
I used it on my mag with EverLED. Works great though
I had a hard time perfectly aligning the edges of
the tape strips. If only they made it in packing tape
width.
