\"Seasoning\" lith batteries??

i read somewhere that you should season lith batteries when first used by keeping the light on for 3-4 minutes the first time you use it.

any truth to this??

if so, does this apply only to say 3volt liths or should one do it for AA liths also??

Thanks..........Bill

Re: \"Seasoning\" lith batteries??

Hello Bill,

Lithium batteries require no conditioning or seasoning.

The are ready to go as soon as you charge them up or put them in.

Unlike Nickel chemistry, they will not gain capacity through repeated charge/discharge cycles.

Re: \"Seasoning\" lith batteries??

Soem Li chemistries develop a 'passivation layer' which causes the voltage to drop for the first few minutes (depends very much on the discharge current). As soon as the layer is dissolved, the cell acts 'nromal'.
Maybe this is called seasoning in some technically challenged circles .-)
