Anyone have this? I have a LM Wave but its too big to carry around. With this, I can just put it on my keychain with my Arc. Should I get this or a small Swiss Army?

It is a neat tool but not very durable,I had the Craftsman version broke the philips twice about 25 bucks although it is nice because all the tools lock.

I have the M4 on a small ring with Arc LE and small SAK. These only leave my person when I shower. I am very pleased with the combo. I have had to tap the rivets to tighten up the locking action after much use, but overall I'm pleased. The LM Wave and E2 are in a Ripoff holster, ready to be clipped on or off the belt, but the M4 combo is used more as it is ALWAYS there.

I've been using an M4 for years, and it's been solid. In that same time I've had several other miniature folding tools break in my hands when trying to squeeze pliers, and/or try to take my finger off by folding up a non-locking tool.

The Serbertech is great. I also carry it alongside my Arc AAAs, all the time.

Except when I dropped it gardening in Virginia and found it again the next spring when I was weeding the same spot. Now I keep a large rubber O-ring snugged up around it to reduce the chance it'll unclench its jaws and drop off the little clip I have for it on my belt -- that extra step reminds me not to be careless in attaching it.

Is there any other tool thats small that can compare to the M4? The lowest price ive seen is around $33 shipped.

You may want to take a look at the SOG Crosscut.

Has a good selection of tools, and mine seemed fairly robust (until I lost it

Sebertech M4 at WalMart for under $20. In the knife case at sporting goods. BTW Hank the M4 is a little light for busting up Virginia clay.

Thanks STC, thatll save on the price and shipping!

>Virginia
Actually I was using the wire cutters on ivy and Virginia Creeper and honeysuckle (grin). I imagine when the kudzu front moves north of Roanoke in a few years I'll have problems.

Kudzu is easy to cut. The problem is cutting it fast enough. Super fast grower.

i tried to grow some kudzu in a pot inside up here in new england and well, after a few weeks, it died :>

damn.

i was hoping for a super dooper office plant.

Kudzu dies back to the ground at first frost. That when we can find the junk cars in the yard. You are lucky it died. The next morning you might not have found your place of work.

i WANT more :> it would be an indoor plant only.
it would die horribly outside, i'm sure.

plus, it's supposed to be edible.

:>

It was brought to this country with the idea for cattle feed. The idea never caught on but I never see any in a cow pasture.
Send me a note next spring. I'll pot some up for you.

there seems to be some "variant" the roads dept use to lock soil down fast to prevent erosion, and it keeps growing back, less vine like and more groundcover "shrub" like. tougher too. darker green. they spray it out with some kind of paste, and in a VERY short time, it's up. not kudzu i think but perhaps i should get a sample. seems hardy.

hmm, next spring for kudzu. that could be fun. unless by then it's considered a terrrorist act to mail it ;> i'm told it's "against the law" to even THREATEN putting some in someone's yard down in the South :>

Because this was getting way off topic, I started a thread on kudzu in Cafe.

Meanwhile, I haven't found any M4s online under $20 to match the reported ones at WalMart, though I found a reference for a web special for $14; I'm not sure yet if it's still a valid link, waiting to see if the order is accepted.

But keep looking.

I've got a M4 on a ring with an Arc LE riding in one of Normarks' sheaths, a great combo. Best thing for me about the M4 is the quick access to the tools/blade. Only negative to date was a few sharp edges when I first got it. Wish I had a small keychain type kydex sheath for it (hint, hint).
Stay Safe,
Clyde

I found a perfect sheath for the m4. Some packages of listerine pocketpaks mints come with a keychain holder. It seems that the m4 is almost the same size a package of mints.

Leatherman has a new pair of even-smaller-than-Micra tools, one with scissors, one with pliers. "Squirt." Seen on special through Oct. 2 at http://www.agrussell.com/special/index.html

I'm content with my M4 and Micra; I guess this new generation of little tools explains why the older ones showed up less expensive recently.
