I have two questions regarding the 6P.

1.) Do the Gun Metal and Black finishes hold up the same? Is one easier to scratch or chip?

2.) With the P60 lamp assembly, how does the beam compare to the E2e. I know it is 5 more lumens, so probably just about as bright, but is the size of the beam the same?

Aaron-

[*] I have found that the HA II black on the 6P series are much easier to scratch and ding than the gun metal coating.

[*] The hotspot of the 6P is just slightly larger than the hotspot of the E2e. The lumen count is really negligible in my opinion, at least in terms of brightness. Ounce for ounce, dollar for dollar, I think the E2e is a higher quality light than the 6P. (Never thought I'd say that...) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So you would recomment the E2e over the 6P? What are your reasons?

I love the E2e but what about the fact that you can get up to 125 lumens with the P61?

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Personally, I like the 6P a little better. Not only is it brighter, but there are more accessories available. I had an E2 (basically the same thing as the E2e, but w/o the HA III finish, pyrex lens, etc.) and liked that it carried very easily. Even though there aren't as many upgrades available, it's a more convenient light to carry for everyday use.

if you're going for a 6P, i would recommend a C2 instead. you get a grip ring and a pocketclip which is very handy. additionally, you can get the C2 in HA if you so desire. both the E2e and 6P are equally well-made lights.

black type II (its not HA) anodizing should have the same wear resistance as the gun metal finish (just type II with a different dye), but scratches and dings will be more obvious on the black finish due to its colour. personally i don't really care how a light looks so long as it works /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

as for the beam, the P60 puts out only 5 more lumens than the MN02, but the P60's beam is more focused and throws further. which one you decide on depends on how you're going to use the light.

Al has a good point there... (Aaron) if you'd like to have more options available to you then I, too, would recommend the G2Z for both durability and its available accessories.

To choose between a 6P and an E2e is a choice I made when I discovered that I was more likely to carry a pocketable light, even though its competition (6P) was only slightly larger (given that the light output is almost the same). I do like my 6P lights, but I simply find the E2e more carryable and has stood up to some solid abuse. I was a non-believer of this light until I decided to give it an honest try. I wasn't disappointed. Of course, this is only my own opinion, and to each his/her own.

I should add that my favorite EDC SF lights are the E2e, C2, G2Z, and the A2... not that I carry all four, but depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing. Those four are never really far away from being picked out of a lineup.
