SF 6Z versions?

Hi, I'm sorta new here. These forums looked very different the last time I visited...

After seeing a few SF 6Z's here, I've noticed they're different to mine.

I've taken 2 of the rubber rings out. I think it came with 3, but I've forgotten.

Is mine an older version?

I'm not sure which is older, your's or mine.

Your bezel is slightly different. My light has 3 spacer rings and the grip ring.

yep, I noticed the bezel too but mostly looking at the grip.
I bought this as NOS a fair while back (and threw out the box - box looked identical).

Surefire over the years had changed the grip on the 6Z. I have one that looks like the one silvalis1 has posted and another one that looks like the one bluesaber posted. I have a pic of each somewhere. I'll post it if I can find it.

You are correct, going back maybe 10 years ago there was a "short" and a "long" grip version. I don't believe they were produced simultaneously. I believe the short version (short grip, long tail section) was older, but I could be wrong. I still carry a 6Z every day.

I bought my 6Z around 1994 IIRC, and it came with the smooth bezel and three spacers on the grip. I replaced it with a G2Z, but transferred the metal head from the 6Z so I could run a R2 Cree dropin
