Whatever happened to the SF 7Z? Did anyone here ever get one? Its the rechargable version of the 6Z and size wise it was a little shorter than the 9Z. Its got to be a pretty rare SF.

I've got one. In fact, I have a 7ZT (T4 TurboHead)
Don't use the 7Z though. I got it for the T TurboHead - not bright enough for it's size in my opinion.

My 7Z is longer than the 9Z as are all 6R's since the rechargeable battery B65 islonger than 3 123A cells. I like the 7ZT for its look, compared to other lights that size it still has an acceptable performance I think - it's the 6V Turbohead HOLA we need. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What happended to it? It was discontinued, the reason I don't know. Maybe the 6R with all its modules was more flexible and versatile thus more successful but that's just a wild guess.

I produced this small picture for a post on the old SFDB some time ago. The 9Z is from my collection, the 7Z photo came from an Ebay auction, and unfortunately this was as big as the image got. It shows the difference in length between them though.

My guess at the time was that the 7Z was infact a 9Z body with an extra extension piece to accommodate the battery. I don`t think that turned out to be right (can`t remember exactly now), but it did look to be the case, judging by the extra length of body between the grip rings and tail cap.

The 7Z is a one-piece body, there is no extension piece or adapter needed to use toe B65 battery. This does increase the waterresistance and minimize the overall resistance since there is no additional threading.

Thanks for the correction. I was working off of memory but when you think about it the 7z has to be longer than the 9z due to the B65.
