I just received 2 G2L's from a fellow member over on the MP and they have quite matt finished alu bezels. I liked the look of them a lot and thought to swap one over with an incan set up on a HAIII black 18mm body so it would all match up better.

When I looked at the lens however they seem to be lexan or some other plastic rather than glass?

I don't remember reading anything here about this but forgive me if i am just being dense :D

I'm guessing that the P60L module does not need the glass lens heat wise?

Any thoughts?

Tha't's correct, the Lexan lens works fine with the P60L LED. The Lexan lens is standard on the G2L aluminum bezel.

Thanks for that, the difference in the finish on the bezels is huge, it is a very nice matt colour.
When did they change that, as I have had G2L's before with the standard shiny black jobs :D

Does the matte finish look like a powdercoat paint?
From what I understand, we should eventually see LED models with aluminum bezels color-matched to the bodies instead of Z44-BKs on all of them.
Several challenges there for maintaining durability, consistent color match, and finish quality, though, so it may not happen.

I see SF has removed the "tempered pyrex window" part from the description on the G2L, and G3L(but not the incan G3).
They haven't removed it from the 6P, 6PL, or G2ZL, even though(as I found out the hard way twice), some of those have been shipping with Lexan lenses lately, too.
Hard to keep up with.
Lighthound and flashlightlens.com sell UCLs for the G2 that can be retrofitted in a matter of seconds after heating up the head to allow the retaining ring to be removed. I do hate those scratch magnet Lexan windows.

Not sure what a powder coated finish would look like :D

I have a yellow G2L that has a similar matt finish yellow bezel.

I do have some replacement UCL's somewhere but I never got round to buying the correct tool to undo the retaining rings yet

I have just bought a GL3 kit but its at work, I will check what lens that has in it next week.
