As I remember it the head was similar is shape and size. I would think for heat issues it would need to be as the KL4 head is already small. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Good point! I never thought of this, which is embarrassing to me since I want to buy an L2. The L4 has the KL-4 which is good for the heat generated by the current needed to deliver 65 lumens. But the L2 also delivers 65 lumens on high! Is there another means for the generated heat on the L2 to be dissipated? Maybe the KL-4 head is beefier than it needs to be?

I hope the L2 is as good as we all hope. I've been wanting this model for a looong while. I'm afeared it may be too big for my back pocket.
 
The L4 has had a good reputation so far. So if you want this light so badly, then there is only one solution to your problem... <font color="red">GET A BIGGER BACK POCKET!</font>

They did a great job of digitally adding the letters to the l4 body. The font is perfect. The knurling above the word Digital is blured if you blow it up enough. So is the edge of teh knurling below some of the text. You also see anti-aliasing left over from whatever was originally there. I'm not saying that it's not a prototype, but if so they changed the lettering after the picture was taken.

John, I remember seeing that pic. I like the long clip. I especially like the clip on the U2. Hopefully they will put a long U2 type on the L2.
 
Yes, that's a proto-type like the ones at the SHOT Show 2004. I doubt the style will change very much (but you never know with SureFire!)

Changing the design of the L2 or any other SureFire to accept the U2's bezel down clip is a big change. I wouldn't hold my breath...

Since the L4 with Don's 2-way switch is an inch shorter than the L2, what is the avantage of the L2?

brightnorm, Don's light is twice as much and I assume harder to come by.

I meant just his 2-stage switch for a preexisting L4 LOTC or clicky or for his own tailcap, to substitute for the stock switch. You might be thinking of the L1 mod where he rebored and rebuilt the light into a 2x123 gem.

The advantage to the L2 I believe is that it will have a regulated low wheras the resistored low is not regulated. The L1's switch is very nice too! As to whether it's worth an additional 1.3" for these features, that's up to the user.

TKL, the switches aren't ready yet and yes the L1 mods I've done are expensive ($250) but I doubt that they are twice the price of the L2 and as far as availability, I'll probably have 4 more up for sale within a week. Don, what's the difference betweeen a PR(T) and the stock reflector on an L4?
