So how come hardly anyone talks about the L6? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif This sucker is a killer LED /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/xyxgun.gif with serious throw and a beautiful, artifact-free white light. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

It has a double beam: a long-throw hot spot encased in a large and perfectly round spill beam. It makes you feel like Luke Skywalker. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif The 3 123s last over an hour. The reflector is a deep, deep orange peel. It's tactical. It will out throw all but the meanest incan wires. It's truely a killer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

And yet hardly anyone talks about it. Hardly anyone reviews it. What gives? This has to be CPF's best sleeper. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepy.gif

I think there's been a sentiment here that the L6 doesn't outperform the L5 by enough to justify its larger size and higher cost.

Thanks, Craig. I didn't know you had a review. I must have missed it. I can't verify the 65 lumens, either. But compared to another high-quality LED that claims 65 lumens, the L6 is much brighter.

Paulr, I don't have the L5, but I do have the L4, which is a perfect house light. The L6 is the perfect outdoor light if you don't need a super throw that only something like the much larger Tigerlight can handle. I suppose the slightly larger M6 can handle it too, but for $24 an hour.

Naromtap: I think you'll love the KL6. My L6 is one of the handful of lights that I would never sell.

Old timers disease is hitting me hard but I remember seeing something in print that said the L6 had 85 lumens I will try to re locate it. I love mine Yeah they are a bit expensive but the quality, beam, and the wow factor help justify its price for a flashaholic.

The L6 is, IMHO, a really nice light that is worth every penny you may pay for it. I have about three of them...one for the bedside, one for the truck...and one to carry in an outer coat pocket during the colder months and in my briefcase during the warmer months.

The beam of the L6 is nice and white and bright, and has good throw and good run time. I also like the size of the L6. I have a SF lanyard on each of them, and would feel comfortable using it as an impact weapon if I ever had to do so.

While the L5 is also nice, I recently sold the couple L5`s that I had...the L6 turned out to be the "go-to" light between the two of them. (And I have other lights, like Mike Jordan`s "Super Flashlights II and III", that are the same size as the L5, yet nicer and brighter.)

Again...just my two cents. Best wishes to all!

Agreed. That's the biggest reason I kept 1-L5 and sold the L6 that I had. The L5 is more than enough. The additional size, weight and extra cell of the L6 vs. the performance of the L5 just isn't worth it to me.

Seemed to me that there were quite a few comments about the L6 when it first hit the market.

My preference is the L5. Also a killer beam.

I think they're both well executed hosts for the 5W. I like the simplicity and elegance of design of the KL6 and the fact that of all of the SF LED lights, it is the easiest to take apart, completely! Should one have call to modify the L6, it's a piece of cake. Some have likened the light from the L4 to a "wall" of light. The L6 has concentrated the 5W's output into a "ram" of light.

Over the L6, I prefer the KL6 on a M4. I love thelooks, feel and function of this combination. I have no first hand experience but would suspect that if one was fortunate to have a 5W Luxeon of a low Vf that the KL6/ M4 would make a great host to a pair of Li-Ion batteries. In fact, I suspect that the M4 tube could be modified to host a pair of 18650's which would really give one some serious battery capacity and options!

Ditto the Prophet's woe! I've had mine on backorder for over a month. . .now I know why we can't get them. You guys are buying them 3 at a time! Give us a break and let Surefire catch up, OK? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I very impressed by their lights, as I own 2 E1E's (with KL1's of course), 2 L1's (both Red), and an L2. But I'm not too impressed with how slow they produce and ship lights. . .I've checked places in 5 states, plus most of the CPF favorites on line. . .Surefire seems in no hurry to get things going. Oh, and I've had an L5 on order for quite a while too. . .I'm beginning to suffer from photon withdrawl!

SureFire are very busy and producing more lights then ever before. Certain models take priority though such as WeaponLights for troops fighting wars.

The L2 is the one to get. This light is the ultimate. I just got one last week and immediately put the A2 up sale after comparing the beams on my basement wall.
This also has a much nicer tint than my TL-3 led and throws almost as far. And, on low beam it is a great inside the house light.

This is also the reason I sold my L6 and kept my L5. The L6 was nice, but if I want that kind of throw I'll grab my M6 or Tigerlight, and get even more throw and light output. I'm quite happy with my choice.

Hello all!!

Many thanks to everyone here who has (unbeknowst to them) helped me learn more about my new addiction (that's pretty much everyone who posts - God I love this place /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif).

I've greatly enjoyed what I've been reading here the last 3 months or so, registered finally a couple of days ago & this is my first post.

I just have to throw my three cents in(seen the exchange rate lately? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif) I have a M4 on the way & have been thinking instead of getting a M3 (already have a M2) the L6 seems to me the perfect next step - it would give me the choice of an L6, M3T, M4, M4/KL6 combo - seems like quite a deal for just two lights doesn't it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

I am not a number, I am a free man!

Welcome to CPF bubbacatfish!

You'll need the N2, MN15 or MN16 lamps to run in the M3T.
Still, it's a good deal. I suggest the N2 over the MN15 because although it's not as much light output the N2 has a round beam that beautiful compared to the MN15.

Please let us know what you think of your lights

Al
