SF L7 Problems

1st off, I want to say hello and glad that I found this place today!

I am a huge Surefire fan, having 5 total now. The problem I am having is my L7. All of a sudden the batteries will only hold a charge for about 10 minutes. Both the batteries are both doing this? I can see 1 battery having an issue, but both at the same time? I charge them from my vehicles 12V power. I have a seperate fused panel for my "Toys". The power to my charger does stop when starting the vehicle, or when turned off.

I noticed on Surefire's warranty states 2 years, but not on battery discharges. I fall within the 2 years, bought it from SF as well. I wonder what my chances are with them handling this issue under warranty? For the life of me I can't imagine these batteries wearing out at the same time.

Do you guys know of anything I can do to refresh these things? Any tricks yall have found?

Welcome to CPF. IIRC the L7 comes with NiCad batteries which are a real pain to use/charge as it has battery memory. I had the same problem when I had an L7 some time ago. Unfortunately there aren't any replacement battery except NiCads unless its custom made. Search the forums and you can find custom packs by members.

I owned the Surefire 8NX that ran off the NiCad batteries, and experienced the same problem. I advise buying new NiCads from Surefire directly.

I sold the light because I wasn't too impressed with the way the batteries kept discharging, and made an easy 40 dollars, having bought it for 80 dollars used.
