i am new to this forum as well as most of the high end lights. i have a SF P6 on my AR with the LED conversion. i am looking to get a better weapons light for it similar to the M962 or possibly an M4, are there any LED conversion kits for either of these lights?

i am looking to replace my P6 LED converted light on my AR with an M4 or one of the M962 type lights but i am a fan of the LEDs because they last a lot longer and are a bit brighter. does anyone make conversions for them?

not 100% sure it will fit a sf weaponlight, but it will fit the SF M4 is the Lumensfactory P7 head.

read more about it HERE

from what i read it should and i hear good things about it. have been looking for an M Series to mount on my AR. are the M3/4 turbo heads interchangeable with the M962 type weapons lights?

How about an SST-50. With a turbo head it would make a nice beam.

the KL6 will work, but it will be slightly overdriven, the Lumensfactory P7 head is out of stock at this time but its available from lighthound for <$100, I'm waiting for the [hopefully won't be discontinued] KL9

i googled sst-50 and didn't get much, where can i buy them from and is this a conversion or something i have to custom make?

There aren't any sold as a direct conversion. You would have to either find a custom part to put the LED on and mount in the bezel or send the bezel off to someone to do (Which if you choose the right CPF modder would be quality work).

This probably ruins it :)

An SST-50 running on a 17670 might not give very good output and runtime though. I misread your post initially, I thought you were going to use the M4 light. Didn't realize you wanted the bezel on a different body.

no, i would like to get an M4 and modify it. i'm new to the high end light world and before now i only know about the Surefire type lights with 123 batts. i was on lighthound looking at the bare bodies and thinking about building a custom light with the P7 head on it. the only requirement i have is that i can mount it to a rail on an AR-15 type firearm. i have a 6P with led conversion now which is a bit weak.

Build an LED turbo tower. It will fit in a KT1/KT2 TurboHead, which fits on a 6P. It will also fit in a KT4 TurboHead, which is what is used on the M4.

Some examples:

XP-G
MC-E 1 and 2
Seoul P4

An SST-50 tower is going to be very tough to build. The substrate has to be filed down. It is 9mm x7.3mm, giving a diagonal dimension of 11.6mm. Unfortunately, the reflector opening is only about 9.5mm diam. But filing down the corners of the substrate will cut into the vias that you have to solder to. And those vias are very small, making the soldering job a hassle.

The easiest to build is a Seoul P4 tower. IMO, the best performance/price/effort balance would be an XP-G tower.

For your 6P, look into the Moddoo triple XP-E drop-in. Or for something tried and true, any of the Malkoff M60 family of drop-ins (Google "Malkoff Devices").

first off i know nothing about this stuff completely new so bare with me....

i am not looking to build anything from "scratch" but just assemble them from different boxes. i was asking about this http://www.lighthound.com/LeefBody-C-Tail-M-Head-3x18650-Battery-HA-III-Natural_p_942.html
with a P7 head on it with the tape switch as a cap.

i have seen the M60 drop in on AR15 (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=25&t=708606) is that what you were talking about?

as far as the triple XP-E drop in what do i need to make that work with my 6P, what does the kit come with, what batts to i need to get? i would like to get which ever is the brightest drop in i can get for my 6P which i think is the Triple LED one. i would be willing to spend $150 to $200 on upgrading my 6P rather than $300 on a new light.

I'm not aware of any ready-built, factory LED conversions for existing KT4 THs. If you want such a conversion module, you'll have to look around the CPF B/S/T forum and CPF Marketplace to find someone offering one of their built modules that was assembled from a kit. Or have someone like Milky build one for you. For example, this one built by Milky. If you are willing to replace the KT4 TH completely, then the Lumens Factory Seraph P7 M Series (already cited above in Post #2) is one candidate. Another is this MC-E M head. A third example is the OpticsHQ TLS TX3 product.

I was talking about the entire M60 family of drop-ins from Malkoff. Go to the Malkoff web site. There are more products than just the M60.

Did you go to the link I provided for the Moddoo triple and read the sales thread? To make it work in your 6P, you give Moddoo some money, he sends you a drop-in, and you install it. It's not a kit. It's completely assembled.

yes i went to the 3 LED conversion and i am talking to him now threw IMs. i think i am going to bore out my 6P to 18mm and go with the rechargeable batts so i can get 600+ lumins out of my 6P rather than getting an entire new light.

as for the Malkoff m60 drop ins which do i get? i want which ever is the brightest with the most throw.

You need to post this question in the LED subforum :)

To quickly answer your question, for the M4 head, the KT-4
you will have to build your own using an AW Turbo Tower Module
Alternatively, Lumens Factory make a KT-4 style head that uses a
SSC P7 LED

One minor point with boring out your 6P is that the interior will no longer have any Chemkote. Most likely, this is a non-issue.

Brightest (lumens) and throw are two different things. One is simply how much total visible light is delivered. The other is a function of the beam pattern itself. The two are not necessarily connected. A laser has great throw, but doesn't deliver the lumens. A flood beam can have a lot of lumens but weak throw. The various Malkoffs have differing combinations of lumens and throw. Best to contact Malkoff Devices to discuss your requirements directly with the vendor.
