Seasons greetings all!

As many of you know i was one of the lucky persons to recieve a light for Christmas from the generous Keith and friends. Anyway, i picked the SF6P and love the light, but have a question. The 6p lamp is tight with no rings, but on my SFG2, the light has some rings in it and seems off center. I thought the g2 and 6p were the same lamps? What do you guys make of this? Should i buy a new lamp?

What say you guys?

Both the 6P and the G2 use the P60 Lamp Assembly. It's always a good idea to have a spare lamp around. Perhaps if you get one and it turns out your G2 does have a less than desired beam you can keep that as back up?

I have had the g2 for over 3 years, but rarely used it because of the price of batt's.

Size15's, what do you make of this? Do you think the lamp is going bad? I took it apart the other day. Is there a certain way the lamp has to be put in? Do the p60 lamps vary a lot?

Maybe i should just buy a new lamp. Maybe i will get a p61 and keep the off center one for back up.

Thanks

No, there is only one way to put the P60 Lamp Assembly into a bezel. Otherwise it doesn't fit correctly

I'm not quite sure what to make of whether your G2's beam is excessively ringy. I'm tempted to think it would be a good idea to see whether another lamp gives a much better beam.
In general terms my experience of SureFire is that their beams are exceedingly pure.

One person sees different things in a beam from another. I guess you've gotta find ones you like though.

Let us know what happens

Ok guys, i just put the bulb in my 6p in the g2 and the beam is tight with nice hot spot with nice flood. Put back the old bulb in g2 and again i see an offcenter not so hot spot with rings in it. The bulb has probably always been that way , but since now i am a flashoholic it is not acceptable.

Now, where could i buy SF lamps for a good price besides SF? maybe i will also get a SFp61 lamp.

Thanks guys

Hey Junior,

If you didn't use your G2 with a P60 lamp because of battery cost I don't recommend a P61 lamp. Those things are battery Vampires.

jcciv is always great to deal with and I see somelamps runs adds in B/S/T.

kelmo, i was concerned about batt cost before i found CPF. I recently purchased some 123 batts from batterystation.com for a buck a piece and also got a case for Christmas given to me by Wayne of Amondotec. 123 cost are no longer a concern now that i am an active CPF member.

I have contacted jcciv before to no avail, he is probably busy for the Christmas season. Ill try again.

Thank's guys
