I want to buy a CKRT D.O.G.,so I did a search and got "knifeoutlet.com". The price was fair at $70 so I put it in the basket.
Went to the checkout and BAM...$54.12 S+H! Greedy tossers. If I want to get ripped off I'll shop here in the UK.Any one know of a retailer that sells this knife with a sensiblev shipping policy?? I'd sure love to hear from
you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif
Does anyone have a used CKRT D.O.G. for sale?
Thanks for looking(there's no charge /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) Phil.

TAD sells the CRKT Hawk D.O.G. for $64.95 with international shipping at $25.00

I found the knife on ebay for $50.88 (Buy It Now Price), but you have to contact the seller for international shipping charges. Here's a link

Thanks for that Xray. I went to look but "auction has ended early due to buy now".Bugger...
Not my lucky day eh?
Any one else offer any help? I'd surely appreciate it!
Phil.

Phil, remember that some customs taxes and charges are to be payed, too, when buying from outside Europe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

1SKS want $150 for shipping. Apparantly, this is what Fedex and UPS charge people who dont have corporate accounts.

The problem with shipping across the big bathtub is if you want any sort of insurance, it's going to co$t you.

If you could talk someone into forwarding one along, or buying one and sending it to you, that may be your best bet.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
I usually just get stuff sent by "tracking" mail and take the chance on insurance, given that they need to watch it all the way over the pond.
It's worked so far. K-T is right re; customs, however it'll still be cheaper than the UK on account of our overcharging and ripping off.
I've only had to cough to customs the once and it hurt,so I might take a chance.
Anyone know a cheap stockist that ships worldwide??
Cheers-Phil.

When you want to avoid taxes DON'T get stuff shipped by FedEx, never had any problem receiving things by post, but FedEx go out of their way to declare taxes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Then make a utter mess trying to deliver the goods /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif Much easier to walk over to the post office than try to communicate with FedEx' European branch, but maybe they're slightly less inept in the UK...

comment: All courier type operations (DHL,UPS,Fedex) handle their own customs clearance. As a result they are obligated by law to collect any applicable duties/taxes etc, and usually charge you for the honor or collecting them.

Postal shipments are handled by the customs service in the country, as opposed to a private customs broker. The Customs Services have no obligation to collect duties and taxes, and since they often can only collect only small amounts for their trouble (a few dollars for US customs, similar amounts for others), they usually don't bother unless the shipment is of high value and they notice. If you ship via Air Letter Parcel (up to 4 pounds), since it cannot be insured, it is assumed to be of low value, and generally no duties or taxes are assessed, no matter what the declaration says. Nobody bothers to look at the declaration!

Especially if they have to fold or spindle or staple any paperwork on their own. Big Brown shanks the company where I work just as bad. We have an account and their computer system in our shipping department to expedite paperwork for our convenience, but not our wallets. Then when there is a problem, they go all dumb. And we average three shipments a week to our UK rep.

I've had good results with Global Priority and excellent results with Global Express.

Express has supposed $100 insurance, but is usually double the cost. Most dealers either don't want to ship via Post, or they are prohibited by their manufacturers with regard to shipping out of the country.

Phil_B : try Outdoorsupplies (click on the bottom link in my sig). Joe can order all kinds of stuff, if you dont mind waiting. Decent prices too.

Joe from ODS is a great guy. They don´t have all items in stock so you probably have to wait. ODS sells the D.O.G. for 50 GBP.

Phil,

Cruddy! I had no idea that shipping charges overseas were so exhorbitant. Sorry to hear it.

In one of my other hobbies, I routinely purchase from countries in the Far East. It is not uncommon for shipping prices to be quite high in regard to the amount spent on the product itself, and inflation of the products' values by over 100% above "street value" for US shoppers via Internet is not uncommon, either, in this sector.

This is a sword that cuts all ways when purchasing overseas.

it's not just overseas, quite a number of times I've looked at purchasing something online and shipping and handleing is more than the item I want to buy. forget that, I am always amazed when people don't include the cost of shipping when ordering on the 'net

I ship internationally for about $19.95 and use Global Priority. It has been great. To insure it I have to use USPS AirMail.

And I supose I should mention CKRT D.O.G's go for $69.95 At Meridian as well....

on the last $1000.00 order I had shipped to me wholesale from Asia, I got hit with about $300.00 in customs fees.

I have been shipping internationally by global priority mail. All the packages so far have made it just fine. My only losses have been a few domestic shippments.

I think I have been very fair on shipping but will take suggestions on what I can do to be better.

I had to edit this post at this time. I have lost my first international package. It went to Israel and never made it. I have to reship.
