I like the looks and reviews of the pm6 so i was considering grabbing one of both. Would you guys recommend it or should i get a couple different brands of lights.

I was looking at the SF6p but it doesnt seem to add much if anything over the 32 dollar pm6 w/holster for nearly half the price. I was originally just gonna get the pm6 xenon because of the awesome amount of throw it has, but after reading up on the led version i got interested in that too....

So if you have bought both the PM6's would you do it again or would you diversify your collection. I guess im also trying to figure out if the LED is good enough you find you dont really use your xenon much.

Thanks a lot, glad i found this place /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Welcome to CPF, liteitup, and why dontcha stay awhile!!!

I no longer have any Pelicans, but would like to report that inluxication has both and is quite happy, they fill in two different uses, the xenon still has the throw edge, and the led is just great, and brite! (Sorry to speak for ya, inluxication.)

In addition, you can take the xenon lamp and drop it into the led head if you like (with the old lamp, that is). They are quite nice for the money, but not quite up to the Surefire level of fit and finish.

If I could only have one, I'd get the LED. Wow.

welcome again,

I recently bought the PM6 led and have been using it quite a bit around our country place. Incredible beam for an led. Great throw. Fits my big hands well. Very functional switch. Definitely a light meant to be worked hard.

Actually, I was so impressed by the led PM6 that I went and ordered the PM6 lithium xenon also. And I am equally impressed by this light and it's very high quality beam and very functional switch. Some glass lenses will be on order soon for both lights. Extremely good throw on this light.

I am glad to have both lights as they are both highly functional and a real bargain for the price. However, if you have a purely serious use as a security light or LEO, I would probably go with the xenon PM6 because it has a higher intensity beam and seems more functional for longer-range light-ups. The led version does medium-range lighting best while being just good for long-range and almost too bright for very close range use.

The two lights compliment each other.

As Task Lights, my Pelican M6 LED, SL TL-2 LED, and a few other Luxeons, are used most often in non-critical use (no bad guys). The advantages are MUCH longer run time, and the non-regulated lights won't quit on you as incandescents will.

Bulb failure, or instaneous shut down as voltage drops are unacceptable incandescent characteristics for mundane use.

I "save" my high output lights for serious purposes.

thanks for the welcome /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

thanks for the responses. I think im gonna order the xenon right now then and then grab the LED in another week or two. For 32 and 45 bucks from battery station i guess there is no reason not to have both /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Liteitup;

I have both; I bought the LED version first, and I use it at work - very good light. Based on what I read here, I bought the xenon version about 2 weeks ago; I have only one complaint - it didn't come with the "clickie" tailcap (it seems only the LED version comes with the clickie tailcap - I have no idea why). You can order clickie tailcaps from an advertiser on CPF. Check the banner section.

The Xenon PM6 is a nice light, but the non-clickie switch stinks. I don't like mine at all and I'm considering sending it back to Pelican to have them make it right. Fit and finish is OK and it is one of the brightest 2x123 lights available. Don't totally write off the 6p because of the price - it's actually only $41.95 at Westforthsports.com and probably a few other places as well.

Anybody know if the non-clickie switch on the Xenon PM6 is a permanent change? Or have you got one from batterystation recently and did it have the clickie? Thanks!

again thanks for the replies. Im gonna grab the xenon from battery station right now and when i need more batteries get a led at that time too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

how can they sell the surefire for that price? I think i will grab one for 42 bucks..

craigf, i dont think the xenon ever came with a clickie switch, just the led version

I love both of mine (incan and LED). The xenon version has a lot of throw, and the LED ver is *very* white. Awesome light(s). I was lucky to get my hands on the "older" versions, so I can easily exchange the incan and the LED modules between bodies. I am not 100% if this can be done with the newer lamp assemblies.

I'm still put off by the rough threads, though. I thought they would get smoother with time and some lube, but they're still rough after several months of (infrequent, I must add) use. No problem here with the clickie.

Word has it from Pelican that ALL M6 flashlights will soon ship with a clicky switch. I am not sure of the timeframe on this though. This was heard months ago and has not taken effect yet. Do note that now the LED models are shipping with the refector fixed to the LED module and I expect soon to NOT see threads in the bodies anymore.
