Should I just open my 6P or keep it in the box?

I just bought a Surefire 6P that is still in the factory "box," instead of the blister pack. It still has the plastic wrapping around the exterior of the box and everything. I can't imagine this light being worth more than any other 6P, but I just wanted to check and make sure before I unwrapped it.

Note: This is not a fishing thread where I am trying to sell something. I plan on keeping this light, either in the box or opening it up and using it. Either way, I am not going to sell it.

Pardon the bluntness, buy why did you buy it if you weren't going to use it?
Can't use a light that's wrapped inside a box.

I imagine he ordered it online, with no way of knowing if it would come in box or blister packaging, and then had second thoughts when he saw it was the boxed type.

Regardless, they would hold little (if any) premium over any other 6P, so I say use it and enjoy it  It's a great light - a classic.

Thanks for the reply, Tempest. You are correct, I purchased it online and once I got it I became curious about the box. I have two 6P's already, one I bought years ago (that came in a box) and one I bought recently that came in a blister pack. I had never thought about the box making any difference until seeing the "Do you keep your box?" thread in the general discussion area.

You are right on these being great lights. :twothumbs

No problem, I did the same thing myself :D 20 6Ps later, and I've got an impressive collection of boxes

Yeah, I'd say so...

I haven't gotten any other than the regular old black versions, yet. I bought my first one to use as my "work" light, but it recently got retired (well, actually mounted on a shotgun) after I got my C2 to carry. Then I bought the second to use as a "traveling" flashlight (if it got lost or stolen I wouldn't be out too much $$).

Then I just bought this one because it was a pretty good deal and I wanted one to "mod" a little bit (already have a scalloped bezel for it)...and I might order one of the really bright drop-ins for it.

And I would eventually like to have a satin grey one....

I'd rip it open! Who knows what the heck you might find in there:twothumbs

If it's the original round style 6P still NIB, it's worth a lot more than you think.
