Hi
Apologies if this has been posted before I am really keen to experiment with minimag modifications but,I want to keep them as incans as I prefer the light output .Two problems the first and biggest I have next to no technical skills so it will have to be simple to start with I aim to improve but it will be a slow process.
The second I would prefer to be able to run it on on stock batteries for ease of re-supply no point having a top notch minimag and a flat battery. This is purely a preference and if cannot be achieved can be set aside (LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AGAIN)
Thanks

Hey Screwball, and Welcome...

My personal favorite mod for a minimag is to make it a hotwire... See this link to get started...

http://www.lighthound.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2011

It turns the light into a 6VDC, 75 Lumen "suprise 'em" light...

You will still need the (2)14500 batteries, charger, spacers for charging the batteries and the Streamlight TL-3 bulb..

This will make your mag a bright little monster. Shoot Lighthound an email and they will set you up..

Just what do you mean by "prefer the light output" of incan? Do you mean color, or quantity?
Sorry I should have been more specific I find that sometimes especially at night I miss small objects when searching with an L.E.D I find the colour of the incan lights helps give a clearer picture of what I am looking at.I have been told that my eyes will get used to the L.E.D colour but like most things it's a matter of preference

Out of curiosity, which LED do you have experience with? The dim blue ones, or bright white high output ones?

Can you name the bright white high output leds? The ones I have experience with all have a blue tint.

The cheap, small 5mm variety often have blue tints. These are the sort that are in those grocery store multiple-led lights.

Cree and Rebel emitters are very white in comparison.

Have a look-see here:

For that last one, I think all the Ultrafire in that picture are using Cree LED's, and the Garrity's are using the old 5mm that you're probably used to.
