Simple Sure Fire A2 question

I am thinking to get an A2 light, and I have a question.

When you activate the second stage of light (the more powerful incandesent beam), do the first stage LED's switch off? Or do they stay on with the incandesent light?

Simple questions are my specialty ... they stay on.

If they happen to be colored leds, you can see the color on the outskirts of the incandescents corona.

I thought I cared if they are on or off, but the only real reason to worry about them is battery life. When you look at this realistically, the incan uses so much more power than the leds it is really nothing to worry about.

I have two A2's and they are my very favorite light by a long way. They are an awesome piece of technology - you get a light with throw and a light with battery longevity and a nice near field flood. That is a great combination.
 
If I recall correctly, the reason why they stay on is that if the bulb blows or you run out of power, you're not left in the dark. Or so they say.

Or should I say they lack the know-how to shut the LEDs down? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif Actually I don't give a damn if it is on or not.

If the high-power bulb blows or if you run low on juice, you can just use Level-1 for the LEDS. There is really no reason to burn the LEDS in high-power mode. It's a waste of power. It must be due to the switching mechanism not having the intelligence to act this way.
