Looking for a small light that takes up less pocket room and since I don't have any AAA lights, figured I'd pick one up. I'd like a tail clicky if possible, high/low mode would be cool, but not necessary. What's out there? All I've found so far is the Streamlight Microstream.
 
There's literally a handful of options. The only two I can think of now is the SL Microstream which you've already mentioned. Along with the 4Sevens Preon 1 model with the tailcap off of a Preon 2 attached instead. I know there's at least one more, but can't recall which one it is.
 
Lumintop Tool - nice regulation and you can lego with the Worm (copper head).

Pelican 1910 - single mode like the Micro Stream.

Peak Eiger long key chain model with a momentary switch (with or without QTC).

I believe this thread now has all available AAA clickies.
 
Tank007 TK701 - I've been meaning to pick up a couple of these.

Trustfire Z10 - I have one of these, build really well, but weak pocket clip.

The litefux lf2xt and univex aaa are my 2 favorite aaa clickys. Im so glad i bought them before they discontinued/sold out. Now used ones costs way more than they did new.

Pretty much lack of a market. AAA cells contain 20% less "juice" compared to AA cells. The biggest advantage of a single-AAA light is its small size making it perfect for carrying on one's keychain. Problem is, you carry on a keychain with the keys in your pocket ... You risk accidental activation and a drained battery. On a low output light, it can be hours before you notice it was switched on the whole time. With a higher-output model, the sudden burning sensation near your crotch will let you know that the clicky tailcap was accidentally activated.

Most folks do seem to prefer their single-AAA tiny lights to have a keychain attachment and a solid tailcap. Requiring twisting the head to activate the light.
 
I think that the other major reason is the small size .... Almost by definition, if you want a AAA torch, you want something as small as possible. But "clicky" switches (at least the mechanical types) are inherently much larger than a "twisty" switch (which can be as simple as a bare contact).
 
Of course it's not a clicky, but the Matchbox Industries HF comes with an extension tube to use AAA primaries/ secondaries. It's a pretty awesome light.

I have one of the AAA clicky streamlights that I keep in my camera bag. That's a good light for what it is.
 
Doesn't the HF from MBI need a higher voltage than a primary. Min HF R wants a 10440 in the AAA extender
