Hi
I have an ostar (QY) and I was wondering if someone can recommend a good single mode driver for it. Is the shark 1A good? Is running the ostar at 1a ok with a good heatsink?

Am I right?= shark with remora will go through the different levels with a regular clickie? I have a mag host with a tailcap clickie. A maxflex wont work because you need momentary and -,+ connected. A shark with remora should work fine with a regular switch because you go through the levels with a series of clicks?

Thanks

ok im set on a single mode driver. And with lots of searching and help from George at taskled(very nice and helpfull:thumbsup:), it is certain I need a boost driver. (i am powering the ostar by 3x17670)

so do I need the BLUE SHARK Step up Converter Board?
or the regular shark step up board?

This should be it right?

I am with you here. I am myself in the same boat. I tried the maxflex to no avail(not in a tail clicky light). I am not sure I know that the shark with ramora works on a tail clicky but I think it will as with the plain shark. I would contact the shoppe and ask them they have great service. I will try and find out after work and I will post back.

The Shark 1A should do the trick if you have a low Vf OSTAR
its what is in the Arcmania 15-3 + the remora as far as I know
Yes the Ostar can take 1A with good heatsinking, My 15-3 gets good and hot after a minute on High. But the Shark runs around ?980ma? but close to 1A

Now if you have a high Vf emitter it may not work.
Quoted from ArcMania in this sale thread:
"One of the major issues I had was to sort through 3Kpcs of 1000 lumen (QZ in brightness) 15 watt Ostar LED's in order to find extremely low VF's, otherwise it would not work well on 3 x CR123's. Typical VF is bewteen 22 volts and 24 volts. I found 15pcs out of that batch that had VF's ranging from 17.6 volts to 18.2 volts. This is just one of the many reasons why I will never make these again. Hope this helps answer some of your questions."
