Hi folks,

I have been searching hard on Internet for infrared technology integrated to computer technology but without much result.

Please advise;
1) What is SIR-Protocol ("serial infrared"-protocol)
2) Where can I find it, a soft copy. on Internet. I don't need a hard copy

IrDA sites is not working properly.

Where can I find relevent technical information on infrared technology. URLs would be appreciated.

TIA

From my knowlege SIR (115Kbps range) has been surpassed by FIR which is a later IRDA-1.1 protocol and is in the range of 4Mbps, and also V-FIR which supports 16Mbps. Don't know much about protocol specifics.

Hi:
I rememeber an article in "Circuit Cellar Ink" several years ago about interfacing a microprocessor project to an HP IR printer that used SIR. You might check their website and see if you can get that back issue.

Unless you are trying to interface to an existing product, I'd suggest you use a more current protocol, like IRDA, which has more readily obtainable hardware/software.

Cheers,
Bob
