I have had an old, used SL-35X with a 1996 vintage L/A for about a month that runs yellower and dimmer on 20W than my Mag Charger on 20W with the W/A 01111 bulb. I didn't post a comparison because I wanted to see what a new SL-35X LA beam looked like. I just received 4 @ new SL-35X assemblies. (I bought 2@ 15-year old SL-20X lights w/o batteries and w/o lamps for $20.50 @.)

All 5 of the SL-35X lamps are equivalent brightness, although the beam balance and hot spot quality very significantly between LA's.

When these SL-35X L/A's burn out, I'll put W/A bulbs into them. I'm sort of stuck driving the LA's on 6V in the 3 Streamlights, but I'll put the other two of them in the 2 @ 6*D cell NiCad Big Beam 166 mods I'm doing.

This is very good news to hear!!! I also like the form factor of the magcharger better than the 35 series streamlights. Do you have to modify the reflector any on the magcharger to get the 0111 W/A bulb in?

Mike:

No M/C mod is necessary for the 01111 (Unless you don't have the tempered glass lens.) You just need to play around until the bulb is fully centered. The W/A filament height is a little taller than the M/C.

I wind up with a hotter, sloppier hot spot with the #01111 and the M/C than with the SL-35X LA.

Lemlux... Good to hear, looking foward to trying that out. A tight hotspot is not a real big deal to me.
