I recently received a Streamlight Propolymer 3C LED light that I ordered online. I was under the impression that the endcap switch was persistant on/off. The 4AA model works that way and the marketing says:
[ QUOTE ]
Push-button switching allows one-handed operation.

[/ QUOTE ]

Anyway, it seems to work as follows: If I screw the cap on tight, the light is on. If I loosen the cap, the endcap switch works as an intermitent switch. (There's no click. You have to hold it.)

I've had it apart and it seems to be designed that way. I was just surprised and wanted someone to confirm that mine wasn't defective or something.

Thanks,
TLC

I don't have any experience with the LED's but I have had a 4AA Propolymer Xenon a while back (about a year.) Twist head on, unscrew until off then push button on back for momentary on until you let go.

I think its just marketing. Just can get it on with one hand, but is it switched on until you let go or after you let go. Its very vague.

Hope someone else who has used a 3C LED can respong,
Jason

My later (?) model 4AA LED has a true clickie, with rear end momentary, and constant on with more pressure.

I have "read" here that the later model 3 C LED has the same.

My 6 month old 3C Xenon has the same twist on head, rear click for momentary as does TLC's.

TLC..... you have an older model.
I got jipped also. I asked if they were selling the newest model , they said, yes, BULL! (botach)

The newst model have a clickie switch button.

Thanks all.

jtice, yes I ordered from botach too.
But given that I didn't even know enough to ask if it was the newest model, I'll consider it a mistake on my part.

The intent of my purchase was to sample some Streamlights and I found one I didn't like and two I did, the 2D Twin Task & 4AA ProPoly (with click).

You have an older model 3C. When they first came out, it was Twist on/off and the tailcap switch was for momentary activation only.

They came out with a new model a couple of months ago that is totally activated by the tailcap, either for momentary on/or of clickie for permanant on/off.

Just got a new 3C from botach. Great service, great prices but it's an old model with the momentary switch. I don't care - for me it's an emergency light anyway so it's not really a big deal.

Great light BTW. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I got mine off Ebay a couple months ago and it is old style.

No matter really, in that size class I REALLY like a barrel mounted switch!

For 4AA lights the UK 4AA AS2 is perfection itself as far as switch operation!
