SL Stinger LED Conversion

I have several of the Streamlight Stingers and was wanting to convert one to LED if this is possible. I've done a search and can't seem to find if this is something that will be easily done or not. Yes, I know they now make the Stingers in an LED version but I'm trying to avoid purchasing another light if possible. I'm mainly interested in increased runtime and not overall light output.

With the Stinger's design, it isn't possible (with a caveat that I don't think anyone's tried, either)
