Solar powered lighter?

Anyone ever try one of these? Metal parabolic dish with a tinder holder in its center of focus.

Want fire? No problem for the patient. Light up every summer solstice.

I can get incense to smolder with my Mag85 every day of the year.

Huh. You're right, T3. A magnifying glass will fit in my pocket, and it won't have the sticky-out thing. That Athens torch lighter is pretty cool though.

Go to a good bookstore, pick up a credit-card sized Fresnel magnifier, slip it in your wallet, you're all set.....

I've got one of those somewhere. It did work, but probably no better than a magnifying glass.

You know whats funny, I have seen the cheap solor powered flashlights, the real flashlights with the panel on the side...your suppose to leav it outside during the day like when camping and it coaks up the sun rays and works later at night...

But get this, when I was in 6th grade that use to be a blond joke...lol, like blond inventions...it went somethgin like this...

I have one I got from radio shack about 12 years ago and in direct sunlight it will light a cig. in less than 2 seconds I can even light a cig. using a 1mil.cp spotlight (of course it takes about 30 seconds) These are a real survival tool as you could start a campfire in no time. I was wondering where I could get another one.

Outlaw, apart from "coolness" why would you want one of these instead of a magnifying lens (Fresnel or otherwise)?
