I am looking to hop on the L2 bandwagon, since I don't have the money to get a SF, and then mod that.

I'm debating on Lighthounds 1*17670 or 1*18650, KD's 1*18650/CR123, or their 1*17670? I have 17670's and 18650's and it wouldn't be hard to pick up CR123's.

1*17670 body ...it's slimmer and it feels better in hands despite you'll have less runtime...
Get a metalgun one with SS bezel ring :twothumbs

Well , you get the one you want !

Depending on the source , you can request the pill you want ..
3Mode
5Mode
1Mode

0.8-4.2v 3v-8.4v 3v-16v 3v-4.2v

I'd go with an 18650 version.

More capacity in the cell means more runtime.
There are also more options available for quality 18650 cells than there are for quality 17670 cells.

If it's a standard sized P60 pill, 17mm will fit it.

I've swapped some boards in other P60 drop-ins with 17mm 3-mode drivers and they fit perfectly.

Perfect!

Now to figure out where to get the M-bin MC-E, so I can get max power out of the pill.

Of course, I know that I won't be able to run the light for long times, running the MC-E at full power, until it hits winter time.

I think I'm going to go with this for now (until I get $ to upgrade the light):

Might as well go with a 1x18650 version. But as for Surefire, a 17670 cell will fit inside a 6P without having to bore out the body. (You'd just have to swap out the lamp).
