Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

The voltage is tweaked with fixed resistors from E12 and E24 series. If you pick a number I get as close as I can with standard resistor values having 2 in parallel. They may not be exactly to the second decimal place as you are quoting. I do get what you are after however from what is posted. Unless I sense a give me maximum intention then to-date all have added a caution factor so just be aware that it'll be tweaked to equal to or fractionally below the voltage specified. BTW an adjustable resistor (pot) isn't a good idea with an exposed circuit IMO. If it gets knocked or exposed to moisture it can vary wildly in value or become unreliable. Not a good thing for the MiniHID to have happen.

No paypal just yet. Still an IC to receive. I'll ask for paypal once I can guarantee delivery. I sleep easier that way.

Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

A quick update,

Just confirmed IC ship dates from modamag. Based on the shipping date I should have them Monday or Tuesday based on the many past US-Aus deliveries I have received. Not long now guys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There are slots left below the line, which is where I'll count what's needed to fill below the line. You are accounted for.

Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

Guys, I don't have any and never used 168 Pila's before, any recommendations as to which ones to buy if there are several choices? I will be using these strictly for the Mini HID.

Also, anyone have any recommended links where to get them and how many will I need to replace the 123's that I have now.

Thanks in advance.

The only Pilas that will fit in this holder should be the Pila 168s, although you should confirm this with Chris (Burnt Retinas) to make sure the holders he is supplying will accomodate 68mm length. For Pilas, you can buy them at JS Burly's.

You can also use bare 17670 or 17650 Li-ion cells instead, since this holder has a 6V cut-off. I buy mine locally, but you can also get them online at slavin4u.com. Make sure you have or buy a charger that can handle bare Li-ion cells if you go this route, otherwise, it can be very dangerous. Take a look at some of the chargers here.

You will need two Pila 168s or bare 17650/17670 cells to power the regulated holder.

Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

hpcjerry, you lucky devil....

Update,

I have just received some IC's from modamag. This is formally a go /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

After spending the weekend having a rip-snortin' finger-tip blistering hoot of a time making the all-thread spacers and getting those nuts just right I decided, at count 140, that's enough. That's 35 holders ready to get made. hpcjerry makes 36 though - doh! hpc, I'll let the blisters go down and squeeze in 36.

As this VERY quickly went from just over a dozen in Mini-HID post to now 36, I have to close the buy at that number to save my sanity.

I have all parts to start building and will get those needed for the numbers below the lines as soon as I can verify what parts I will need after the voltage tweaking information comes to hand.

Please be patient as the quantity means that having boards built by a shop is not a $$ option due to PCB and SMT manufacturing set-up and stencil costs etc. This means that I will be making and assembling all the boards by hand. This takes time.

I will confirm P&P as soon as I get one to the post office. I will then be asking for payments. Paypal should be set for this in the next couple of days too. I have only spent money to-date here on CPF! Rick258 and Brightnorm, no postage required for the second run, I'll cover it.

Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

Burnt_Retinas,

question for you based on the resister choices you use on the regulator.... if I selected 11.38 as my voltage, will the final number you come up with be higher or lower than that? I guess I would rather it be higher at 11.4, rather than lower at 11.3.

Just curious.

Thanks.

Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

cue003,

As 11.38 suggests a caution factor has been added to keep below 11.4, as most have done, then the voltage will be less than or equal to the specified voltage to the nearest voltage that can be had with trimming resistors. I will not exceed either the voltage specified or the upper limit if a range is specified unless requested to do otherwise. Allowing for IC variation vs. trimming capability I expect the voltages to be +0 to - ~0.2V from that specified. Yet to see how much variation there is with the IC's as the build progresses.

Re: Interest for MiniHID Li-Ion rechargeable solut

Chris,

Just to confirm - the battery holder is designed to hold 2 Pila 168S's. Is that correct?

Will you be offering Pila batteries as well, or should we get our orders in to Burly or Battery station for some 168S's so we will have them when your units are ready to deliver.
